Press release #AI
LGM, a European leader in system operational safety, reliability and security for over 30 years, and Numalis, a French deep-tech start-up specializing in formal methods for validating artificial intelligence (AI), have announced the signature of a partnership with the ambition of participating in the deployment of trusted AI in critical industries.
The partnership was unveiled at EUROSATORY 2024, the world’s leading defence and security exhibition, where the two companies were showcasing their innovations and presenting a joint conference entitled ‘Harness the power of AI with confidence in your applications’.
However, it was within GICAT (Groupement des industries françaises de défense et de sécurité terrestres et aéroterrestres) that this alliance was born. Both companies have been members for many years.
‘This agreement illustrates the support provided by GICAT’s GENERATE programme for young innovative players and the increased collaboration between the players in our ecosystem, in the service of the operational needs of our forces and industrial excellence’. Declares General Jean-Marc DUQUESNE, General Delegate of GICAT.
Artificial intelligence: when confidence rhymes with operational excellence
The growing development of Artificial Intelligence, particularly in critical areas and applications, makes it essential to formalise new design and validation methods for these AI components.
The specific technical features of AI mean that new methodologies and tools need to be put in place to enable them to be deployed and used with complete confidence. This approach is fully in line with the European Commission’s objective, with the enactment of the AI ACT in 2024: to define a regulatory framework to ensure the compliance of AI. However, this framework has yet to be written in terms of its industrial application.
The partnership between LGM and NUMALIS is therefore part of a drive to promote the development and adoption of Artificial Intelligence in critical systems with complete confidence and security. This is made possible by offering all their customers and partners (start-ups, manufacturers and institutions) solutions for designing, testing and industrializing complex systems incorporating AI components. For LGM, the aim will be to optimise these systems so that they are reliable, durable and safe, with optimum availability and low maintenance costs. Numalis, for its part, will guarantee the reliability, explainability and robustness of the AI modules via its Saimple solution.
‘LGM is recognised as the European specialist in engineering and support for complex systems and infrastructures, as well as in the design of innovative, tailor-made solutions for high-tech industries. It was therefore natural for us to join forces with Numalis, which is positioned as a trusted third party for the development of AI solutions. This recognition comes from the expertise and know-how of our employees, who are involved in building systems that are reliable, durable and safe. With this partnership, we can guarantee our customers even more of these aspects, in the new area of effective AI implementation’. Says Nicolas REMY, Business Development Manager and AI Expert at LGM.
‘The Defence and Security sectors are looking to adopt a number of innovations, including Artificial Intelligence. Given the crucial stakes involved, it is imperative that manufacturers equip themselves with reliable, robust and explainable solutions. Numalis provides a framework and rigorous tools for mathematically verifying these AI models. In partnership with LGM’s expertise, we guarantee manufacturers the deployment of trusted AI, giving them numerous operational and strategic advantages.’ Concludes Arnault IOUALALEN, CEO of Numalis.
